This 30-minute class is designed as movement exploration for children ages 18-26 months to complete with their moms/guardian in the class with them. The use of props, mats, and sing-along songs allows each adult to help their child develop motor and coordination skills in a fun, structured environment with a Sterling Studio instructor to guide them. This class is a perfect opportunity for babies to get in on the dance fun before they are old enough to join class on their own for more dance instruction. Dancers are required to wear ballet slippers or bare feet; adults are required to come barefoot. This class will meet once a week, on Mondays from 1:00-1:30 for the last three weeks of June (11th, 18th & 25th) and three weeks of July (9th, 16th & 23rd). The cost of the class is $30.00 per month ($10.00 per class)

Strength and Conditioning for Dancers This hour-long class focuses on building core strength and increasing endurance and flexibility through a variety of exercises.  These exercises include, but are not limited to Pilates, yoga, and strength exercises.  Students will learn to use their own body weight (and eventually progress to assisted weight exercises with partners) to increase strength and flexibility with no additional cost of equipment.  Each class will begin with a cardio warm-up to improve conditioning, next we will target a specific area of the body each week:  core, arms, legs, etc… with the majority of the class focused on flexibility with stretching exercises to create the long lean muscles desired for dancing.   *Why is strength and conditioning important for my dancer?* Dancers are athletes.  Just like football players and gymnasts, dancers deal with the risk of injury.  Conditioning students in functional strength and flexibility while teaching them the appropriate way to use their bodies decreases the chance of injury.  As students progress to the advanced levels of class there is an increased need for endurance to complete prolonged combinations and train through longer class times efficiently.  As students progress levels the demand on the body is increased just as it is with sports.  By strengthening and conditioning students as they grow and improve as dancers decreases the chance of injury and in the long run creates an intelligent, well-rounded artist with self-awareness.     Ages: 6 & up This class will meet once a week, on Mondays from 4:00-5:00 for the last three weeks of June (11th, 18th & 25th) and three weeks of July (9th, 16th & 23rd).
