The use of props, mats, and sing-along songs allows each adult to help their child develop motor and coordination skills in a fun, structured environment with a Sterling Studio instructor to guide them. This class is a perfect opportunity for babies to get in on the dance fun before they are old enough to join class on their own for more dance instruction. Dancers are required to wear ballet slippers or bare feet; adults are required to come barefoot.

Each class begins by warming up our muscles, stretching and reviewing our ballet feet and arm positions during a circle warm-up. Each princess will get her own binder for her class. We give out sticker charts to keep track of our progress, coloring pages that match our theme of the month, and a certificate of completion that your dancer will receive after your parent "sneak peek" where you are invited to come into the class room to see what they have been learning, see a little dance they will perform for you and get their certificate. Video and picture taking is always welcome during "sneak peek". We also will have a Spotify (free online music library) where you can play the songs we use in class at home....for FREE! These playlists are also added each moth with the theme.

Musical theater singers have some unique requirements. We have developed a specialized program to meet the demands required of musical theater singers. The basis of all singing lessons is technique first. You will be able to utilize all the exercises and tools you learn from this class for the entirety of your career in singing. We will work on the very best technique for preparing and maintaining your voice to withstand the challenges of singing all styles of musical theater repertoire, including legit, character and belt.

You will learn how to:

* balance and blend all of your vocal registers

* support your voice effectively

* build power in your voice

* develop the healthiest ways to sing in the various MT styles, from legit to belt.

Song Interpretation and Development

We take a great deal of time in developing your ability to discover, integrate and communicate the character, emotions, motives and back-stories inherent in all the songs in your repertoire. You will be challenged to find a perfect and dynamic balance between technique and emotional impact in your performances. This intensive work will pay huge dividends when it comes time to audition for shows, competitions and colleges.

Community theaters are highly competitive. A great deal of my student base consists of people who are not interested in the professional stage, yet want to perform in community theater. This program will give you a huge advantage in the Community Theater arena.

If you are ready, or have a son or daughter who is ready to take this important step to begin a legitimate, traditional, thorough and professional training in singing for the musical theater, then this is the class for you!
